Lunar Eclipse Capricorn - July 2020 - Viral Shift
This has not been the easiest eclipse season by far. A great many changes are in store right now, and even the most grounded and spiritual people have been facing extreme challenges lately. This isn't a time to lose hope, however. This is a time to break the chains and shed the shackles. This eclipse will set the tone all the way to the next eclipse season. Let's get through this one quick, as the Lunar Eclipse is hitting right now as we speak.
The Lunar Eclipse Itself
The Lunar Eclipse goes exact at 13 Cap 37'48" on July 4th, 2020 at 21:44:23 (9:44:23 PM) PDT (July 5th, 2020 04:44:23 UTC). The Sun opposes Moon as with all Lunar Eclipses... as always, this is a supercharged Full Moon. This particular one has Saturnian qualities being in Capricorn, and this one greatly has to do with our careers, our reputations, and of course our governing structures, as opposed to our identity with home, with our private lives, our innermost domains really. Very fitting, as outside of the East Coast US this Eclipse is going exact on the Fourth of July. And frankly, we are seeing a rebellion against the "sacredness" of this day, which actually fits with one of the main aspects to this Lunar Eclipse. Anyone with placements from 8 to 19 degrees in the cardinal signs (Capricorn, Aries, Cancer, Libra) will be feeling this eclipse pretty powerfully.
(Note: As I treat the Lunar Eclipse as its own object, I capitalize it, like I do Sun and Moon in charts, in case anyone was wondering about my allegedly incorrect grammar. Not sure why I feel the need to explain this as it hasn't come up, but here's my reason if anyone's been curious).
Other Aspects to the Lunar Eclipse
Only a few main-body and point aspects to this lunar eclipse, and one fixed star that bears mentioning.
Lunar Eclipse in Capricorn Biquintile Venus in Gemini
Venus is no longer retrograde, having ended that run in late June, so it's getting back up to speed now. This eclipse is forcing us to confront issues concerning relationships, jobs, projects, hobbies, and other aspects of life where we seek beauty and attraction. The usual way of handling things hasn't been working for quite some time now, so we have to be considerably unconventional and think way outside the box so we don't get left behind in the dust. There's quite a few ways we can go about this, but there should be some ample rewards for getting past this hurdle. Don't shy away from your creativity: problems do have solutions, and the more creative the solution, the better.
Lunar Eclipse in Capricorn Conjunct Fixed Star Vega
This is a weak conjunction at the outer edge of the orb of influence, but it bears mentioning. Moon here has the effect of:
"Public disgrace, probably through forgery, loss through writings, some ill-health, success in business, gain through an annuity or pension. If a malefic be with Scheat, violent death."[1]
So while there's the opportunity for some success in some business matters, I'm thinking that "Annuity and pension" part could also be interpreted as inheritances, though I don't have the data to confirm this. I'm thinking the public disgrace part will also be somewhat muted due to the wide orb of this influence, but still here.
Lunar Eclipse in Capricorn Trine Uranus in Taurus
There's a great many changes that we'll be seeing in the light of this eclipse period, some of which will be beneficial. While Uranus is not in its element, so to speak, there are definitely some shifting foundations going on here. We'll be able to take more of these changes in stride now, and still other changes will be better for us in the long run. How we approach these changes now will make or break us, as these are necessary shifts, and while we cannot predict how this will all play out, we should appreciate that circumstances not changing would not serve us very well.
Other Noteworthy Aspects During the Lunar Eclipse
There's a few other apsects going on during this eclipse that are adding their own sets of colors to this cycle.
Mercury Retrograde in Cancer Semisextile Venus in Gemini
This aspect implies a cycle where we will be needing to review and revise our plans regarding our relationships, jobs, projects, and how we communicate regarding these and how this affects our resources. Of course we'll be seeing messages and postings regarding these things, such as new or revised government guidelines in relation to the virus. How we handle these revisions and messages determines how the rest of this cycle will go.
Mercury Retrograde in Cancer Square Mars and Chiron in Aries
Mars and Chiron aren't close enough yet to be conjunct themselves, but they're getting there. Mercury still squares both, however, and we can expect quite a bit of angry outbursts for this cycle, especially as people are taking a lot of the restrictions and woundings personally now. We're looking at people lashing out after so long of being confined to home or essential travel only, and the fact that Mars is in its home sign of Aries now, where it will be until 2021 should not be lost on us. People are going to be feeling more emboldened to express their indignations now, regardless of consequences, and we can expect more injuries and harm coming from this as well given the harsh aspect to Chiron. Take all the precautions you can for the next several months to avoid and/or protect yourself from unnecessary conflicts. There's also the potential for necessary conflict, whether it be in the march for justice or for dealing with an aggressive party that will not back down. Identify any and all means of protecting yourself at this time, especially if you or a loved one is in a potentially violent situation.
Mercury Retrograde in Cancer Sextile Uranus in Taurus
Quite a few unexpected messages and trips could be in store for some, though this may not be all bad, especially as this is showing up in a sextile pattern. Some sudden changes and surprise communications are going to be in regards to our finances, our resources, and of course our home fronts. Perhaps a better change comes about during this time, or is being set up for later when our conditions stabilize, such as upgrading to a better residence (even during a pandemic). Some who are in countries that have a better handle on handling the coronavirus pandemic may see better or more immediate results, while those of us who are in places that have seen out-of-control spreads of the current virus may have to wait until the middle or longer of this eclipse cycle...
Venus in Gemini Sesquiquadrate Jupiter Retrograde and Pluto Retrograde in Capricorn
First, we have Jupiter and Pluto, both retrograde, and having just done their second of three exact hits in Capricorn for their own cycle. Tremendous amount of changes and tearing down of structures and what we've come to expect as far as stability. Venus sesquiquadrate these two in this position, especially at the apex of this eclipse, well, this goes to show that we're still going to have a lot of external interruptions and roadblocks when it comes to our resources and relationships, and I'd say we're seeing some contraction and pulling back when it comes to moving ahead to a better, newer world. Some places are definitely seeing returning to greater restrictions right now. It's a mess, but it's a mess we can deal with and get through this period of craziness.
Venus in Gemini Sextile Mars and Chiron in Aries
This is a more fortunate set of aspects. Mars and Venus in a nice sextile does heat up the passions somewhat in more committed relationships, and also allows for a more focused drive when it comes to our pursuit of our projects, dreams, creative ventures. Chiron and Venus sextile allows for our bonds in close relationships to help heal some of the previous hurts we've had to deal with, and also allows for those in close relationships to take care of one another should one fall under duress (be it to a cold, to COVID-19, or just feeling down in general). Some newer relationships could actually still form during this eclipse cycle as well with this set of aspects.
Mars in Aries Quintile Jupiter Retrograde and Pluto Retrograde in Capricorn
So we still have quite a bit of upheaval and structures crumbling around us, and we're probably feeling a bit pissed off about it. Fortunately, there is a time and place for creative thinking when it comes to long-term planning of what we're going to do to move on from this once the worst of the current events passes, and quintiles signify creative thinking quite well. Doing things the traditional way won't work anymore. Be bold and see what solutions you can come up with during this downtime.
Neptune in Pisces Sextile Jupiter Retrograde and Pluto Retrograde in Capricorn
The dreamer and illusionary planet in its home sign of Pisces making this sextile to the current debilitation of overall and global structures is actually to our benefit. We can use Neptune's mental and dreamlike energies to visualize a newer, better world, and we can also harness this aspect to better plan out how we're going to get ahead in our lives and build a better society all around. It's also a good time to uncover and expose deceptions and half-truths that are continuing to fester in our current environment, as this will shed a light on those now.
Asteroids Aspecting the Lunar Eclipse (Coming Soon)
Asteroids during this eclipse will have to wait until I can come back to this. I feel compelled to analyze this after the eclipse passes, as the energy at the moment doesn't feel conducive for me to continue this. The fireworks all going off as I'm writing this are also a distraction, and there's been at least one home lost to a structure fire in this town from fireworks today already. My attention is needed elsewhere, so I'll have to come back to this when time and circumstances permit.
In Closing
This Lunar Eclipse is another intense one, but one that calls for some measure of creative thinking to get through the current events ongoing. Again, avoid unnecessary conflicts right now, and I think we'll largely make it through alright. It's just that there will be a great deal of necessary conflicts, so be smart and safe about things. Take care of yourselves and one another. Peace.
